Port of Mahogany Bay Beach Side

Mahogany Bay Cruise Port sits in the beautiful country of Honduras. The Cruise Port is located on the island of Roatan and is owned and operated by Carnival Cruise Lines. It is only offered to those patrons who cruise on ships run by Carnival Cruise Line Corporation. We visited this port in January of 2020 while on a Carnival Breeze Cruise that took us to the Western Itinerary! What a beautiful view from the ship! The water, all the windmills and mountains are so beautiful!

This port is beautiful with it’s lush green landscaping and flowers! A nice spot to relax, shop, have lunch, go to the beach, take a nature trail walk or perhaps just lay in a lounge chair with a nice book! The port has several options to choose from in the Beach Rental department. All sorts of sports rentals and snorkel gear. The area to kayak was really nice! There is a nature trail that you can take prior to going over the bridge to get to the beach. We walked it and it was nice but it is not wheel chair assessable! I really enjoyed the walk across the bridge. It offered a great view of the ship! The chair lift is available too that will take you to the beach. At the time of our visit the chair lift was $16 per person to ride. We selected not to ride but to walk and take our time. My next visit I plan to ride the chair lift to get some really nice views!

This port also offers several options for food and drink. Plenty of options for alcoholic beverages! There was a stand that had Jerk Chicken being cooked on a huge food smoker, while we did not eat there, it smelled delicious! We elected to eat at Fat Tuesday and the food was really good. It offered all kinds of American cuisine and some authentic dishes. The restaurant has a nice Island vibe with music and drink!

Shopping is available entering the port and on both sides of the port when you come in, if you are interested! Do not forget it is also duty free shopping! The shops offered up trinkets, beautiful wood carved items, souvenirs and much more! There is also an outdoor local craft market that had many items to choose from. I found the people of the island very nice and humble, not pushy at all!

This port also offers excursions that you can choose from directly on your booking through Carnival Cruise Line prior to sailing. You will see the numbered meeting areas for excursions as you walk in to the port after the duty free shop! You can’t miss them!

We elected to walk around and see the port since we had never been before. We got some food and drink, shopped, walked the nature trail and visited the craft market! It was a great day! Certainly a port that I can not wait to return to!

Below I have included some photos of my day at the port and included my Youtube video for your viewing pleasure.
