Arrival to Fort Wilderness

Arriving to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort is a nice little drive in with the lush landscaping and beautiful flowers that are added to this little country paradise nestled in Central Florida. Fort Wilderness is a campground that has been a part of Walt Disney for many years and has been a yearly tradition for our family. We have visited several times per year for over 15 years now. It never gets old, every time we visit, it is another great memory! As you come in to the property you will be greeted by a security personnel that will check your drivers license and verify your reservation. You will be directed either to the right and circle around to walk in the guest services building or you will go to the left and do the drive up check in. No matter which way you go, you will have a Disney Cast member eager to help you get started on your magical vacation! When you check in you will be given some paperwork which includes a map of the campground and a direction of where to find your place you have reserved whether that be a cabin or campsite. You will also be given a form to take to the Golf Cart attendant if you are renting a golf cart during your stay. You will also be given a magic band which is your ticket to the world: it is your key to open your door, an easy swipe when you shop since your credit card on file is attached to it, and it is your tickets to the park, also you can use it to open the gates when coming in and out of the resort. It is light and comfortable on your wrist. Your magic band can get wet and it can also be kept for souvenir.

Tip: If you go to your reservation online prior to your trip you can design your band to the color you prefer, otherwise you will have what is available at check in.

Pull up Check In

Golf Carts

Golf carts are available for rental at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. Golf cart rules are the same as driving a vehicle and is enforced by Orange County Sheriffs Office. You will see local sheriffs riding through at times along with Walt Disney security. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age to operate the golf carts and hold a valid drivers license. Rules of the road apply and they appreciate the same courtesy for buses too. Do not pass a bus, when you see a car or bus behind you find a safe place to gently pull over so the vehicle can pass by and then move back along. The rules are placed on top of the steering wheel. Always remember to charge them when not driving them. You will have electrical outlets at the Trails End parking, cabins and campsites to charge them. During our trip this last time we entered into the Golf Cart Parade for the 4th of July!! What fun! The cart as of July 2019 was $68 per day to rent, that can change without notice. It is very much advised to place your reservation for your cart with the Bike Barn when you book your reservation for the resort to be sure you are guaranteed a cart. The Bike Barn’s phone number is (407) 824-2742.
